BUSHFIRE BURNT BEAUTY

Ancient tribe Ngarigo, scorched the earth so long ago.
Green new growth for joey’s joy, muzzlewood man and bogong boy.

Bushfire Burnt Beauty in a timeless land,
Replenish the earth as Creation planned.

Koscuiszko hears our turn, minus five headwind burns.
Cootapatamba clear and shrill, heaven’s anchor weights to still.

Bushfire burnt beauty in a timeless land,
Replenish the earth as Creation planned.

Lizard blue and cockatoo white, keyhole cave and cooleman night.
Brumbies graze on long plain grassed, sweet and fresh from a fiery blast.

Bushfire burnt beauty in a timeless land,
Replenish the earth as Creation planned.

Yarrangobilly goes to glory, hidden caves well they tell the story.
Crystal spring becomes a pool, soul on fire steeps to cool.

Bushfire burnt beauty in a timeless land,
Replenish the earth as Creation planned.

AUSSIE GOSPEL BLOKE

Once I was an Aussie, now I’m an Aussie Gospel Bloke.
I tried to win the other way but it all went up in smoke.
Until I woke one morning, feeling rather odd,
And tried a new direction, to just believe in God.

Now I’ve had a few adventures, I've stumbled once or twice;
Travelled to some foreign lands that I thought were very nice.
But it all comes down to nothing if the spirit isn’t there,
If life has got you down, mate, there’s someone who can care.

Once I was an Aussie, now I'm an Aussie Gospel Bloke.
I tried to win the other way but it all went up in smoke.
Until I woke one morning, feeling rather odd,
And tried a new direction, to just believe in God.

Australia’s got some problems; you can’t fix them on your own.
You’ve got to get together with some people in the zone.
You can fill the street with marches or drop bombs from above
It just comes down to one thing, you can fix it all with love.

Once I was an Aussie, now I'm an Aussie Gospel Bloke.
I tried to win the other way but it all went up in smoke.
Until I woke one morning, feeling rather odd,
And tried a new direction, to just believe in God.

I’m an Aussie Gospel Bloke I’m proud to say,
And I’ve crossed this Christian country the Aussie Gospel way.
When my earthly days are over and they put me in the ground,
I hope I leave Australia better than I found.

Once I was an Aussie, now I'm an Aussie Gospel Bloke.
I tried to win the other way but it all went up in smoke.
Until I woke one morning, feeling rather odd,
And tried a new direction, to just believe in God.

BROULEE ISLAND

I ran with you at sundown, you were right there by my side.
We ran to Broulee Island at the turning of the tide.
I looked around behind me at those footprints in the sand.
Something in those footprints I just didn’t understand.

No one is an island,
Think about Broulee;
Sometimes connected, and,
Sometimes free.

I looked around for footprints that showed both you and me.
I only found a single set at the border of the sea.
The tide was going out so fast they had not washed away.
The memory it still lingers of the mystery of that day.

No one is an island,
Think about Broulee;
Sometimes connected, and,
Sometimes free.

Later on you told me when I met with you in prayer,
The reason why those footprints seemed to vanish in the air.
A single set of footprints they make a solid track –
The reason is you carried me right there on your back.

No one is an island,
Think about Broulee;
Sometimes connected, and,
Sometimes free.

I HEAR JESUS CALLING

When you are on the edge and have broken every pledge,
And hope seems always dashed upon the ground.
Just hear that voice within and soon you’ll wear a grin,
For Jesus is a man who sticks around.

I hear Jesus calling, people why are you stalling,
Come into that promised land today.
I hear Jesus calling, words like sunlight falling;
I am the light to truth your way.

One day I had no bread and that’s when Jesus said,
Believe and you’ll have bread for ever more.
The next day in the mail, arriving without fail,
Was a voucher from my local bakery store.

I hear Jesus calling, people why are you stalling,
Come into that promised land today.
I hear Jesus calling, words like sunlight falling;
I am the light to truth your way.

GOD LIVES IN AUSTRALIA

Take me to the outback, row me to the reef,
Drive me to the Daintree for spiritual relief.
Haul me to the Alice, set me on the coast,
Soar me to the mountains in the land I love the most.

God lives in Australia, look around you’ll see,
If you’re searching for the answers, believe and you’ll be free.

I’ve sailed on Sydney Harbour, I've camped at Kakadu,
I drove the Diamantina and I've been to Mogo, too.
I've crossed the mighty Nullarbor, wherever I go I see,
The beauty of Creation always reminding me.

God lives in Australia, look around you’ll see,
If you’re searching for the answers, believe and you’ll be free.

I cruised the Simpson Desert, I've gazed at Uluru,
I've stood on Kosciusko, soaked up our cities, too.
The Great South Land it beckons to a world that waits in line,
The last untouched reminder of our Saviour’s bold design.

God lives in Australia, look around you’ll see,
If you’re searching for the answers, believe and you’ll be free.
God lives in Australia, look around you’ll see,
If you’re searching for the answers, believe and you’ll be free.

THE CHURCH OF AUSTRALIA IS THE BUSH

The bush has been a church for 60,000 years,
A place to take your worries, all your troubles and your fears.
A good spot for a wedding or if you fall from grace;
A christening or baptism or your final resting place.

You’ve got your Church of England,
You’ve got your Church of Rome;
There’s just one place that matters
On my Aussie island home.
Where you don’t have to wait ‘til Sunday
To make a prayerful push;
The Church of Australia is the bush.

You dont have to be a member or sign a special pledge;
No donation ever needed if your wallet’s on the edge.
It will lift your balance higher than its ever been before,
If you head into the bush and let your spirit soar.

You've got your Church of England,
You've got your Church of Rome;
There's just one place that matters
On my Aussie island home.
Where you don't have to wait 'til Sunday
To make a prayerful push;
The Church of Australia is the bush.

The bush is a mighty symbol of hope and faith and love.
It’s always there when you need it, just like the stars above
Its greatest inspiration when it comes down to the wire,
Is how it bounces back when it’s been put through a fire.

You've got your Church of England,
You've got your Church of Rome;
There's just one place that matters
On my Aussie island home.
Where you don't have to wait 'til Sunday
To make a prayerful push;
The Church of Australia is the bush.

BOOMERANG, TAKE ME BACK

Boomerang leaves the hand,
Heralds arrival of spring in the land.
Shooting and budding and bursting to turn,
A new generation with wisdom to learn.

Boomerang, oh take me back;
Left myself somewhere down the track.
Boomerang, I'm looking to find,
God's pure love and peace of mind.

Boomerang reaches high in the sky,
Summer approaches with fire and the dry.
Swooping and sweeping and curving at last,
When searing and searching and soaring have passed.

Boomerang, oh take me back;
Left myself somewhere down the track.
Boomerang, I'm looking to find,
God's pure love and peace of mind.

Boomerang falls as leaves hit the ground,
Cold weather castles and caves must be found.
Descending and bending and slowing to find
Autumn is only a figment of mind.

Boomerang, oh take me back;
Left myself somewhere down the track.
Boomerang, I'm looking to find,
God's pure love and peace of mind.

Boomerang drops as winter draws near,
Nature slows pace and the air it is clear.
The catch is completed, the flight it is passed,
The cylce of nature continues at last.

Boomerang, oh take me back;
Left myself somewhere down the track.
Boomerang, I'm looking to find,
God's pure love and peace of mind.

THE CLEARING

There’s a clearing in the bush where I often make a push,
When those winter winds of life just blow me down.
I load my earthly woes in the ute and off I go,
To a place that’s just a little out of town.

The creek is lined with ferns, that's where my spirit burns,
As I seek the soothing solace of the trees.
The seats are made of ironbark, they fell in time of fire,
But mostly I just fall down on my knees.

If it’s dark and full of night then for my guiding light,
There’s a shining cross up in that southern sky
And sometimes for a treat there’s a rainbow lorikeet,
Just like a stained glass window passing by.

And for my singing hymns I hear those gum tree limbs,
Brush and wave across the purple ridge.
And to echo back my prayer in the strong Australian air,
I can catch the far off rumble of a didge.

And it doesn’t take me long with my meditative song,
To remind me of my purpose and my part.
And soon I’m heading back along God’s narrow track,
And the clearing it has moved inside my heart.

ONE MIGHTY JESUS

Jesus started something 2,000 years ago,
About how to love each other and how to run the show.
He took two tiny fish and he held them up to pray,
And 5,000 people ate their fill that day.

Give me one mighty Jesus and two tiny fish,
Three wise men and four seasons with a wish.
Five loaves of bread and six jars of wine,
And the glory of Creation will be mine.

Father, son and Holy Ghost make up the family tree,
That grows strong sturdy branches for you and also me.
Four seasons give us reasons to believe that time will heal,
But only if we trust in God to change the way we feel.

Give me one mighty Jesus and two tiny fish,
Three wise men and four seasons with a wish.
Five loaves of bread and six jars of wine,
The the glory of Creation will be mine.

Five loaves of bread, well they fed a hungry crowd.
After lunch they thanked the Lord, praising right out loud.
Six jars of water were turned to precious wine,
And if we trim the branches we’ll grow a stronger vine.

Give me one mighty Jesus and two tiny fish,
Three wise men and four seasons with a wish.
Five loaves of bread and six jars of wine,
And the glory of Creation will be mine.
